Ajman Municipality has rolled out strict measures for veterinary establishments, introducing penalties up to Dh500,000 for regulatory breaches. This development marks a significant shift in the enforcement of veterinary standards across the emirate.

New Disposal Requirements

The municipality now mandates that veterinary facilities must:

  • Partner with certified specialist companies for disposing of expired products
  • Complete disposal procedures within 90 days of product expiration
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all disposal processes

Regulatory Partnership

The initiative, launched in partnership with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE), strengthens oversight of veterinary operations throughout Ajman.

Dr Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, executive director of the Public Health and Environment Sector in Ajman, shared insights about their systematic approach. “Our team conducts regular inspections of veterinary clinics and pharmacies to verify compliance with federal guidelines,” he stated.

Essential Documentation Requirements

Veterinary establishments must maintain:

  • Valid veterinary service licences for on-call practitioners
  • Ministry-issued facility permits
  • Public health pest control agreements
  • Proper disposal contracts
  • Complete sales and purchase records

Strict Control Measures

The municipality has implemented additional requirements:

  • Limited access to veterinary pesticides
  • Mandatory sourcing from approved suppliers
  • Exclusive trading with Ministry-registered businesses
  • Three-month disposal deadline for expired products

Violation Consequences

Establishments failing to follow regulations face:

  • Financial penalties ranging from Dh10,000 to Dh500,000
  • Immediate seizure of non-compliant products
  • Potential operation suspension
  • Facility closure for repeated violations

Legal consequences may include imprisonment for those involved in selling, manufacturing, or possessing fraudulent or expired veterinary products.

“These measures safeguard public health and maintain high veterinary safety standards across Ajman,” Dr Al Hosani concluded.
