In a significant development for the UAE’s digital landscape, the Abu Dhabi Government has established a landmark multi-year partnership with Microsoft and Core42, a G42 company. This strategic collaboration aims to implement a sovereign cloud system, accelerating the emirate’s digital transformation and artificial intelligence integration.

Transforming Government Services Through Cloud Computing

The partnership focuses on boosting government efficiency by creating a high-performance cloud computing environment with capacity to handle more than 11 million daily digital interactions. This ambitious initiative was formalised in the presence of Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority.

Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE), signed the agreement alongside Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella and G42 Group CEO Peng Xiao.

Abu Dhabi’s Vision for AI-Native Governance

The emirate has set an ambitious target to become the world’s first fully AI-native government by 2027. This objective forms part of the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027, supported by a substantial Dh13 billion ($3.54 billion) investment in digital infrastructure. The comprehensive strategy includes the deployment of over 200 AI-powered solutions designed to streamline public services and enhance operational efficiency.
