The state-of-the-art facility, situated in the DWC warehouse, introduces a closed-loop system that transforms confiscated goods from Dubai Customs into valuable recycled materials. This initiative represents a significant step forward in sustainable waste management.
The facility’s advanced operations include:
- Automated conveyor systems that efficiently transport wearable waste through various processing stages
- Cutting-edge technology combined with manual inspection for precise sorting

Partnership with Dubai Customs
Rajesh Garg, Chief Financial and Sustainability Officer at Landmark Retail, shared insights about their collaboration with Dubai Customs. “We received our first batch of confiscated goods last weekend,” Garg stated. “This partnership allows for responsible disposal of counterfeit items, which is crucial given that Dubai Customs identified counterfeit goods worth over Dh5.4 million in 13 separate cases during the first quarter.”
Public Participation and Incentives
The facility extends beyond processing confiscated goods. Residents can actively participate in this sustainable initiative by:
- Donating pre-loved wearable fabrics at collection points
- Receiving vouchers worth Dh10 to Dh20 for their contributions
- Using these vouchers for purchases at Landmark Group stores
