Dubai’s road transport system is taking a significant step forward with the introduction of variable Salik toll rates starting January 31, 2025. This new pricing structure brings important changes for drivers across the city.
Peak Hour Pricing
During weekdays, motorists will pay Dh6 during these periods:
- Morning peak hours: 6am to 10am
- Evening peak hours: 4pm to 8pm
Off-Peak Benefits
The system offers reduced rates during quieter periods:
- Weekday off-peak hours (10am to 4pm and 8pm to 1am): Dh4
- Sunday standard rate: Dh4 throughout the day
- Free passage: 1am to 6am on Sundays
Special Ramadan Timings
The holy month brings adjusted timings:
- Peak hours (Dh6): 9am to 5pm on weekdays
- Off-peak hours (Dh4): 7am to 9am and 5pm to 2am
- Free passage: 2am to 7am Monday to Saturday
- Sunday rates remain at Dh4 (7am to 2am)
Important Notes for Drivers
The existing rules for Al Safa and Al Mamzar toll gates remain unchanged. Vehicles passing through these gates in the same direction within one hour will follow the current charging system.
Parking Changes Coming Soon
The transport updates extend beyond Salik. By March 2025, Dubai will implement a Variable Parking Tariff Policy:
- Premium spaces: Dh6 per hour
- Standard paid parking: Dh4 per hour
- Peak hours: 8am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm
- Night parking: Free from 10pm to 8am
- Sunday parking: Free all day
Event Area Special Rates
Starting February 2025, areas near major events will see special parking rates:
- Dubai World Trade Centre event zones: Dh25 per hour
- This policy aims to manage traffic during large-scale events
These changes signal Dubai’s commitment to smart transportation management, offering drivers options while addressing traffic flow across the city.
