This policy shift marks a significant change from the March 2024 ban, which prohibited e-scooters inside Dubai Metro and Tram for safety reasons. The new guidelines strike a balance between commuter convenience and safety protocols.
RTA emphasised the importance of folding e-scooters and placing them in designated areas, strictly prohibiting riding inside stations. These rules apply throughout the operating hours of the Metro and Tram.
For Dubai’s growing community of e-scooter users, this update offers greater flexibility in combining eco-friendly last-mile transport with the city’s efficient public transit system. However, strict adherence to the guidelines is crucial to maintain safety and order within the Metro and Tram networks.
As Dubai continues to evolve its transport policies, this move aligns with the city’s broader vision of smart, sustainable urban mobility. E-scooter users are advised to familiarise themselves with these new rules to ensure a smooth and compliant journey on Dubai’s public transport system.
