Despite challenges such as torrential rains in April and regional disruptions leading to flight cancellations, Dubai International Airport saw passenger traffic surge to 44.9 million in H1 2024.
Air Cargo Traffic
The UAE’s airports handled a total of 2,162,786 tonnes of air cargo in H1 2024, broken down as follows:
- Imports: 528,430 tonnes
- Exports: 245,217 tonnes
- Transit cargo: 1,389,136 tonnes
Notably, national carriers accounted for 68% of the total air cargo traffic, highlighting their dominant role in the UAE’s aviation sector.
Air Traffic Movements
Total air traffic movements for H1 2024 reached 499,789, representing an overall growth rate of 11.8% compared to the same period last year. February stood out with the highest growth in air traffic movements, showing a 15% increase compared to February 2023.
