Sunday, July 7, 2024 (Muharram 1), has been declared an official paid holiday to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year. This significant date signifies the start of a fresh lunar year and is observed by Muslims worldwide.
A Similar Move by Oman
Oman has also announced a holiday and a three-day weekend for the public sector to mark the occasion of Islamic New Year. With Friday and Saturday being a typical weekend in the Sultanate, workers will have an extended break from Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7 and return to work on Monday, July 8.
