In a move to enhance the educational experience, the Saudi Ministry of Education has approved a new academic calendar for public schools in Saudi Arabia. As reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the 2024-25 academic year will adopt a three-term system, with an extended eight-week summer vacation starting in August.
Key Dates for the 2024-25 Academic Year
Here are the important dates for the upcoming academic year:
- First term: August 18, 2024
- Second term: November 17, 2024
- Third term: March 2, 2025
- Summer vacation: 8 weeks, starting in August
Additionally, the calendar includes scheduled holidays for National Day, autumn break, Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha, and other weekends.
Flexibility for Universities and International Schools
While the Ministry of Education has set the overall framework, universities, technical colleges, and international schools have the autonomy to create their own calendars. However, they must adhere to the approved five-year timeframe to ensure a cohesive educational process.
