Indian seafood exports have reached an all-time high, with the UAE emerging as the 9th largest buyer, according to the latest data from India’s Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA).

In the fiscal year 2023-2024, India’s seafood exports reached a record high of 1.78 million metric tonnes, valued at $7.38 billion. This significant growth is attributed to the increasing demand for Indian seafood globally.
UAE: A Key Market for Indian Seafood
The UAE has become a crucial market for Indian seafood exports, accounting for a substantial share of the country’s total exports. In the fiscal year 2023-2024, the UAE emerged as the 9th largest buyer of Indian seafood, with frozen shrimp being the major export item in terms of quantity and value.
Key Markets Drive Growth
The top 10 markets for Indian seafood exports, including the UAE, contributed a significant 79.89% of India’s total seafood exports in US dollar terms. This highlights the importance of these markets in driving the growth of India’s seafood export industry.
