Dubai’s private school sector has made significant strides, with an impressive 81% of students now attending institutions rated ‘Good’ or higher, according to the latest reports from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). This marks a notable improvement from the previous year’s figure of 77%.

The KHDA’s findings indicate that nearly 49,500 students have benefited from this upswing, with 209 schools and over 360,000 students participating in the inspections. The ratings breakdown is as follows:

  • 23 schools rated Outstanding
  • 48 schools rated Very Good
  • 85 schools rated Good
  • 51 schools rated Acceptable
  • 2 schools rated Weak
  • No schools rated Very Weak

Aisha Abdulla Miran, Director General of KHDA, praised the schools’ commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities, stating that “our schools are among the world’s highest performing, according to international assessments.”

Notable improvements were seen in various areas, including:

  • 64% of schools rated Good or higher for progress of students in Arabic as a first language
  • 77% of schools rated good or higher for progress of students in Islamic education
  • 76% of schools providing Good or higher rated provisions for students of determination
  • 83% of schools offering wellbeing provision rated Good or higher

The KHDA’s efforts to support schools in reducing barriers to learning and ensuring equitable access to education have paid off, with inclusive education improving significantly. Wellbeing provision remains a strong focus, with most schools offering high-quality wellbeing programs.

Fatma Belrehif, CEO of Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB), commended the private schools’ achievements, saying that “private schools continue to achieve significant improvements in the quality of their overall performance.”

In a move to support the teaching and learning process, private schools in Dubai will not be subjected to full inspections during the 2024-25 academic year, except for new schools that will complete their third year of operation. Instead, the DSIB team will conduct quality assurance visits to monitor schools’ progress on improvement plans.

This development is a testament to Dubai’s commitment to providing a world-class education system, aligning with the future goals of Dubai and its vision to become a top 10 city in the world for quality education.
