The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has announced a strict new policy for companies collaborating with social media influencers without the correct advertising licenses. The fines for non-compliance can reach up to AED10,000 ($2,723).

The ADDED has called upon all licensed economic establishments in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to adhere to the following regulations:

  • Social media influencers must obtain a license from the department to practice the activity of advertising services through websites.
  • Economic establishments must obtain a permit from ADDED when carrying out any advertisements (advertising, promotional, or marketing).
  • Economic establishments must ensure they have a valid license issued by ADDED when contracting with influencers and social networking sites. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in penalties ranging from AED3,000 ($817) to AED10,000 ($2,723) and potentially even lead to business closures.

The ADDED aims to promote and create an ideal economic environment for businesses in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is essential for companies to stay updated on the latest regulations to avoid these penalties.

Stay ahead of the game and ensure your business is compliant with Abu Dhabi’s influencer regulations.
