Imagine stepping off a plane to find an AI-powered robot cleaner, steamer, and disinfectant all in one, hard at work on your seat. This futuristic scenario is now a reality, thanks to Emirates airlines’ innovation exhibition, which showcased over 30 cutting-edge technologies at their headquarters.

Robot Cleaners: The Future of Airplane Maintenance

One of the standout innovations on display was a robotic arm that can vacuum, steam, and disinfect airplane seats with ease. According to Keenan Hamza, Vice President Technology Futures & Innovation, Emirates Group, the next iteration of the robot will be capable of even more impressive feats, including checking seat pockets for lost items and creating visual reports for operators.

Facial Payments: The Future of Transactions

Imagine paying for your coffee without needing your bank card or phone. That’s precisely what tech company PopId has developed. With a one-time registration action, customers can take a selfie that’s converted to biometrics, allowing them to pay for purchases with their face. This technology has already been implemented in a leading UAE supermarket chain, reducing transaction time by 75%.

Next-Generation Robots: The Future of Collaboration

Another revolutionary technology on display was a robotic skin that responds to the touch of a feather. Developed in partnership with the Technical University of Munich and intouch robotics, this skin paves the way for a new generation of robots that can work alongside humans in various fields.

The event featured several partners of the Emirates group and over 30 startups, showcasing their innovative ideas to industry leaders. As Keenan Hamza emphasized, these partners are an integral part of the Emirates ecosystem, driving forward the future of travel and tourism.
