As summer temperatures soar in Dubai, residents are facing air-conditioning woes, with some spending up to Dh6,000 on repairs. Maintenance teams are working overtime to resolve the issues, but residents are still struggling to stay cool.

Residents of The Greens, The View, The Springs, and Jumeirah Village Triangle are among those affected, with some resorting to buying extra fans and coolers to cope with the heat. The frequent disruptions in air-conditioning systems are causing frustration, with some even contemplating relocation.

Saurav Sharma, a resident of Al Ghozlan 3, said, “The AC issues started after the April floods, and we’ve had to procure ceiling fans to manage the heat.” Some residents are spending thousands of dirhams on repairs, while others are taking matters into their own hands, performing regular maintenance checks to prevent breakdowns.

French resident Louis Dubois, who has lived in The Springs for 10 years, emphasized the importance of periodic professional maintenance checks, saying, “It’s essential to service your AC units regularly, especially before summer, to prevent breakdowns.”

Meanwhile, Farhat Parveen, a resident of Jumeirah Village Triangle, said, “The AC in my living room is completely ineffective, and the maintenance staff told me that many flats and villas in JVT are facing the same issue.”

As the mercury rises, residents are seeking solutions to stay cool. Natalia Miranda, an American expat living in Jumeirah Lake Towers, said, “I prepare ahead of summer every year by thoroughly cleaning my air conditioner and setting up dehumidifiers to prevent mold.”

As the summer heat intensifies, residents are forced to take matters into their own hands, and the costs of repairs are adding up. Will the maintenance teams be able to resolve the issues before it’s too late?
