The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a pre-approved visa on arrival service for Indian passport holders, making travel to the country more accessible and convenient. This service, offered by Emirates Airlines and VFS Global or the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDFRA), allows eligible travelers to obtain a 14-day single-entry visa upon arrival.

Eligibility Criteria and Requirements

To be eligible for a pre-approved visa on arrival, Indian passport holders must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a valid six-month visa for the US, UK, EU, or have a residency permit
  • Have a confirmed Emirates airline booking or apply through the GDFRA
  • Provide a personal photo with a white background
  • Have no restrictions preventing entry into the UAE

Application Process and Fees

Through Emirates Airlines

  1. Visit emirates.com or use the Emirates mobile application
  2. Click on ‘manage an existing booking’ to retrieve booking details
  3. Click on ‘apply for a UAE visa’
  4. The page will redirect to the UAE visa application site by VFS Global

Through GDFRA

  1. Visit the official website https://smart.gdrfad.gov.ae
  2. Log in or create an account
  3. Choose the service – ‘Visa on arrival for citizens of the Republic of India residing in (America, Britain, European Union countries)’
  4. Fill in required information
  5. Pay the application fees

Processing Time and Fees

The application process takes up to 48 hours to complete, and the issuance of visas and extensions remains at the discretion of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDFRA). The fee for a 14-day single-entry visa is AED250 ($68).
