The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been ranked as the second most hardworking country in the world, according to data from the International Labour Organization (ILO). However, a new report from duke+mir reveals that despite their dedication to work, UAE residents prioritize ‘fun’ in their free time.
An astonishing 97% of respondents in the survey said they enjoy ‘out of home’ entertainment every month. This statistic suggests that UAE residents know how to strike a balance between work and play.
So, what do UAE residents like to do in their free time? The survey revealed some interesting insights:
- Watching movies at home tops the list, with 83% of respondents enjoying this activity.
- Live sports, dining out, playing sports, and reading books are also popular choices.
- Gaming is another favorite pastime, with the average person in the UAE spending around 4-5 hours online daily, half of which is dedicated to gaming.
The report also highlighted the rise of the subscription economy in the UAE. A significant proportion of residents subscribe to various paid entertainment services, including:
- Entertainment streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime (49%).
- Home TV subscriptions (48%).
- Music or podcast streaming services (23%).
- Sports streaming services (21%).
- Video gaming subscriptions (19%).
- Online fitness and wellness subscriptions (12%).
- eBook subscriptions (11%).
- Paid magazine and news services (8%).
These findings demonstrate that UAE residents are not only hardworking but also know how to have fun and prioritize their leisure time.
