The roar of Lamborghini’s engines may soon be a thing of the past as the luxury supercar company gears up for a fully electric future. At the launch of the new hybrid Urus SE model in Dubai, CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed plans to ditch conventional fuel for electric powertrains.

The Urus SE is the latest addition to Lamborghini’s hybrid line-up, boasting a “two-hearts” approach to performance. Winkelmann revealed that the investment to develop these models is the biggest in Lamborghini’s history.
However, this move towards sustainability means discontinuing fan favorites Urus S and Urus Performante. Winkelmann confirmed that these models will be stopped, making way for the hybridised line-up.
The electric future of Lamborghini is still in its infancy, but Winkelmann is committed to keeping hybridisation alive for as long as possible. This means delivering comparable, if not superior, features to the traditional Lamborghini experience.
As the world shifts towards a sustainable future, electric vehicle makers are exploring innovative sound designs to replicate the familiar sensation of a gas-powered vehicle. This move aims to address concerns about the lack of sound and potential safety risks.

Winkelmann acknowledged the challenges of an all-electric future, citing legislative pressures and the need to balance consumer demand with sustainability goals. The Urus SE will be available in the region at approximately AED1,000,000 in Dubai.

The Middle East market accounts for around five to six percent of Lamborghini’s global volumes, making it the number six market for the firm. The Urus SE sets a new standard in the super SUV hybrid segment, harmoniously combining different qualities for an unparalleled experience.

With the Urus SE, Lamborghini takes another step towards the future, in line with its Direzione Cor Tauri strategy, moving ahead with the electrification of the range and the path toward decarbonisation.
