Dubai’s traffic congestion has significantly increased since last year, with more people returning to work in offices post-pandemic. To tackle this issue, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a survey to understand current work practices in the private sector.

The survey aims to collect data on work patterns and schedules to formulate strategies for expanding flexible work arrangements and remote working policies. This initiative seeks to reduce congestion during peak hours by staggering commutes over a longer period in the mornings and evenings.

By participating in the survey, respondents can enter a prize draw for various incentives. The data collected will be utilized by the RTA and partners to develop solutions for smoother traffic flow.

Dubai’s population growth has put pressure on its infrastructure, with over 25,700 additional residents recorded in Q1 2024 alone, taking the total to more than 3.65 million. This number is projected to reach 5.8 million by 2040.

Through the survey results, the RTA believes flexible work arrangements can help mitigate traffic congestion and improve the overall commuting experience in Dubai.
