Are you planning to sell your car in Dubai? Whether you’re upgrading, downsizing, or leaving the country, selling your vehicle involves certain procedures and documents that you must be aware of.

One of the essential steps is removing the Salik tag from your old vehicle. Failure to do so could lead to charges or even fines. Fortunately, the RTA has simplified this process, making it free of charge and protecting the seller from any issues during the selling process.

Documents Required

The required documents differ depending on whether you’re an individual or a company. For individuals:

  • A valid Emirates ID of the applicant is required only if the ownership of the vehicle has not changed. This applies to those looking to remove the tag without selling. Customers may complete the process only through Customer Happiness Centres and Salik Service Counters.

For companies:

  • A valid Emirates ID of the applicant is required only if the ownership of the vehicle has not changed. This applies to those looking to remove the tag without selling. Customers may complete the process only through Customer Happiness Centres and Salik Service Counters.
  • An official letter signed and stamped from the company that includes the plate numbers and Salik tags that must be removed.

Process Channels

You can remove the Salik tag through various channels:

  • Online through the RTA website or smart application: Receive your result instantly.
  • In-person at Customer Happiness Centres and Salik Service Counters: Process may take up to 10 minutes.

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth selling process and avoid any potential issues with your Salik tag.
