Dubai has seen a notable 25% increase in the number of foreign students enrolling, bringing the total number of students in the region to about 35,000. This expansion demonstrates Dubai’s growing stature as a centre for international education.
The number of students attending Dubai’s private higher education institutions has increased by 12% over the previous academic year. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai (KHDA), which is in charge of managing private education in the emirate, provided this statistics.
The most recent KHDA infographic indicates that 34,893 students are enrolled in Dubai’s private higher education system at this time.
A Draw for Students from Abroad
The dramatic increase in foreign enrollment, which now accounts for one-third of all students, highlights Dubai’s allure as a location for top-notch higher learning. Students who choose Dubai especially to further their education are included in this category.
The number of overseas students increased by 25% in only the previous academic year, nearly tripling the rate of new enrollments. The opening of five new foreign universities in Dubai, bringing the total number of higher education institutions with KHDA licences to 38, is a major contributor to this expansion.
In light of this trend, Aisha Miran, the Director-General of KHDA, offered her perspective, saying, “The unprecedented growth we’re seeing aligns with Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda to establish the city as a leading global centre for higher education.”
She continued, “Dubai’s increasing international student numbers reflect its status as a top destination for learners seeking high-quality educational opportunities.”
Growing Programmes and Degrees
More than 650 programmes are available at Dubai’s higher education institutions to meet a wide range of academic and career goals. The most popular degrees among students are those in business, engineering, computer technology, media, and design.
When compared to the previous academic year, student interest in programmes in the humanities, law, and natural and physical sciences has increased the highest.
The infographic from the KHDA shows a varied student population: 28% of students are engaged in master’s programmes, 2% are doctorate candidates, and 63% of students are pursuing bachelor’s degrees.
Due to Dubai’s dedication to developing its higher education sector, the city continues to draw talent from across the world and promote an atmosphere of learning and creativity. This pattern strengthens the city’s standing as a premier centre of education and presents it as a breeding ground for future leaders.
