In an effort to improve operational efficiency, Dnata was the first freight services operator in the UAE to use drone technology back in 2021. Capable of keeping an eye on almost 1,800 shipments a day, these drones have integrated themselves perfectly into everyday operations, guaranteeing 99% accuracy over 2,400 rack positions. Drones can now autonomously navigate, collect inventory data, and carry out duties like case counting and barcode reading without the need for further infrastructure thanks to technology provided by dnata’s partner Gather AI.

This automation helps achieve sustainability goals by lowering carbon emissions and raising warehouse safety standards. It also reallocates human resources to more difficult activities, increasing productivity. The drones are ideal for Dnata’s cutting-edge cool chain facilities since they are adaptable and can function in temperatures between 0 and +50 degrees Celsius.

Dnata intends to expand this technology throughout its international cargo network in the future. Senior Vice President of Dnata’s UAE Cargo and Global Cargo Strategy Guillaume Crozier expressed his excitement about the drones’ performance, emphasising the positive effects on efficiency and the immediate advantages for airline passengers. The CEO and co-founder of Gather AI, Sankalp Arora, states that the collaboration has been essential to achieving a completely digitalized air freight environment.
