Dubai is gearing up to host the highly-anticipated 2024 edition of the Dubai Esports & Games Festival (DEF), under the esteemed patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Scheduled from April 19 to May 5, DEF 2024 is poised to elevate the gaming scene not just in Dubai, but on a global scale, showcasing the city’s dedication to the burgeoning digital economy.

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, expressed excitement over DEF 2024’s ambition to lead the region’s gaming industry and celebrate the passion and skill of the gaming community. This year’s festival promises an unprecedented lineup of over 50 games, 200 gaming setups, 11 never-before-seen titles, and 4 global premiers, surpassing the impressive attendance of 48,200 from 91 nations in 2023.

A highlight of DEF 2024 is the GameExpo at the Dubai World Trade Centre, scheduled from May 3 to 5. Attendees will immerse themselves in the latest gaming innovations, witness local and international esports battles, and participate in a host of activities including cosplay and coding workshops. The Play Beyond contests are set to bring together top gamers in showdowns that will captivate audiences.

Adding to the festival’s allure are the Ramadan online tournaments, offering gamers a unique competitive platform during the holy month. DEF 2024 also focuses on fostering young talent through the Microsoft MakeCode Competition and the Minecraft Education Challenge, providing valuable educational experiences to students.

For professionals in the gaming industry, the GameExpo Summit, powered by Pocket Gamer Connects, offers an invaluable opportunity for networking, sharing knowledge, and engaging with key industry figures.
