In response to forecasted adverse weather conditions across Dubai and the wider UAE region, both public and private sector entities have been instructed to adopt remote working protocols on Monday, February 12. This precautionary measure aims to safeguard the wellbeing of employees during the unstable weather period.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has called upon private sector companies throughout the UAE to implement flexible working arrangements for the upcoming Monday. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure the safety of employees, particularly those who would otherwise need to commute.
Additionally, the Ministry emphasized the necessity for companies with outdoor operations to strictly adhere to occupational health and safety standards during this period. “It is crucial for organizations conducting outdoor activities to comply with existing health and safety regulations, ensuring the protection of workers both on-site and during their commute,” the Ministry highlighted in a public statement.
This announcement aligns with the directives given by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, mandating remote working for all Dubai government employees, with the exception of those required on-site due to the nature of their roles.
Furthermore, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has encouraged educational institutions, including private schools, nurseries, and universities in Dubai, to facilitate distance learning on Monday to guarantee the safety of both students and staff amidst the uncertain weather forecast.
In light of the expected weather disruptions, these measures underscore the UAE’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and health of its workforce and students by encouraging remote work and learning practices.
