Expanding Opportunities with UAE’s New Flexible Work Guidelines
The UAE has unveiled a comprehensive framework to regulate flexible working arrangements in the country, a move set to enhance job opportunities in Dubai and the wider Emirates.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has released the “General Framework for Employment Patterns and Flexible Work Types in the Federal Government,” in alignment with a Cabinet decision, underpinned by the Human Resources Law in the Federal Government and its executive regulations.

Flexible Working Patterns in the UAE
The flexible working conditions sanctioned under the new framework encompass:

  1. Work from home inside the UAE
  2. Work from home outside the UAE
  3. Hybrid work models
  4. Compressed working hours

FAHR highlights that these guidelines support the UAE’s progressive strategy for future workforce requirements, ensuring the seamless operation and task completion within federal entities during standard workdays and hours.

The initiative is geared towards enhancing functional and institutional productivity and leveraging Human Resources Legislation to attract and retain talent with the promise of flexible work options.

Advancing Workplace Flexibility for a Progressive UAE
This framework signifies a step forward in embracing agility in response to the evolving workplace dynamics, reflective of rapid technological advances and the emergence of new governmental work trends globally.

Clarifying the execution of various employment patterns, including full-time, part-time, temporary, and flexible roles, this legislation outlines the mechanisms for utilizing these flexible work types effectively.

In exceptional circumstances, federal authorities possess the discretion to offer flexible work arrangements to employees.

FAHR has announced its plans to conduct a series of introductory workshops in February, targeting HR executives in ministries and federal entities to ensure the effective adoption and maximal advantage of the new flexible work guidelines.
