Rotana, a titan in the Middle East and North Africa hospitality sector, has set an audacious plan to bolster its international presence through a pipeline of 50 hotel openings scheduled for 2030. With nine properties signed in 2023 alone, the company is clearly on an aggressive growth trajectory.
As part of its expansion blueprint, Rotana is eyeing the UK market, with two upcoming launches under Centro, its acclaimed budget hotel and serviced apartment brand. By 2024, guests can expect the doors to open at Centro New Malden and Centro Kingston, marking the inauguration of an extensive deal to develop a staggering 1,500 hotel rooms in the vicinity of London.
Further broadening its horizons, Rotana has introduced its premiere property in Georgia: the Pontus Rotana Resort and Spa, Gonio. This luxurious, five-star retreat, scheduled for a grand reveal in 2026, is set to infuse 600 rooms into Rotana’s burgeoning global portfolio.
Senegal is also on Rotana’s radar with a planned establishment in its capital. The Arjaan Hotel Apartments by Rotana in Dakar, anticipated for completion by the year 2026, promises to epitomise refined metropolitan living with 150 tastefully designed rooms.
Showcasing dynamism, Rotana’s Edge brand is poised to galvanize the region with ambitions to operate 30 Edge properties by 2027. This year is significant for the brand with its continuous expansion, particularly in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where deals include four Edge and one Rayhaan branded hotels in Riyadh, plus one more Edge in Al Baha.
Having inaugurated three Edge-managed hotels in the UAE recently, and announcing the intention to open several more in Riyadh, Rotana’s momentum shows no sign of fatigue. The company’s regional plans for 2024 include the opulent Dar Rayhaan by Rotana, Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and the contemporary Onyx Arjaan by Rotana in Manama, Bahrain.
A cross-continental leap will seat Rotana in Algeria with the Azure Rotana Resort and Spa in Oran, and the idyllic Bloom Arjaan by Rotana on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island is also on the anvil for next year.
Eddy Tannous, the Chief Operating Officer at Rotana, reflected on the enterprise’s ascent to a brand revered worldwide, with over 100 hotels in their global repertoire. “The year ahead looks equally ambitious as we forge ahead on our expansion journey. With a goal to manage 120 hotels, comprising 29,000 keys by 2030, we hold steadfast in our commitment to graciously bestow our intrinsic ‘Treasured Time’ promise to guests across the globe.”
Rotana’s current operations span 74 properties in strategic regions, endeavoring to service over six million guests annually. Notably, the UAE represents a significant market, with 36 hotels and 10,159 keys under its belt.
