Abu Dhabi has set its sights on an innovative future with the approval of a massive spending plan aimed at ensuring sustainable development and the preservation of Emirati culture. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has given the green light to a budget surpassing AED65 billion ($17.7 billion) that will be dedicated to 142 groundbreaking capital projects in the region.
This strategic investment focuses on projects that resonate with the citizens’ aspirations, shaping an infrastructural landscape that nurtures a sustainable community while upholding the core values and unity of Emirati society.
More than a mere financial initiative, Sheikh Khaled’s directive encompasses a holistic approach to safeguarding and promoting the Emirati cultural heritage. It builds upon the foundation established by existing heritage-focused exhibitions, festivals, and programs, cementing the importance of national identity and heritage for all residents, and ensuring Emirati values are woven through the fabric of future generations.
The development plan includes initiatives to conserve the rich Emirati heritage, upholding the national identity by amplifying awareness of traditional practices, and nurturing homegrown talent to ingrain UAE’s cultural legacy within the youth. Sheikh Khaled reinforces the significance of heritage as a pillar for shaping both present and future society, aspiring to create a legacy that instills pride and serves as an inspiration for everyone.
Accompanying the cultural preservation efforts, Sheikh Khaled received updates on the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre. This institution will spearhead a unified framework for the handling of hazardous materials and coordinate with relevant authorities to align response strategies with international best practices.
The leadership’s unwavering commitment to community protection and environmental welfare is at the forefront of these initiatives, driving Abu Dhabi towards a prosperous and resilient future.
