The landscape of domestic worker recruitment is pivotal in the UAE job market. The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) recently conducted an elicitive meeting with heads of licensed domestic worker recruitment agencies, focusing on adherence to the current laws and procedures.
MoHRE’s summoning of agency leaders to this critical discussion underlines the gravity of compliant practices within the domestic sector. This assembly, held in Dubai’s MoHRE headquarters, convened over 90 stakeholders, encapsulating owners, managers, and agency representatives.
Abdulla Al Nuaimi, the Assistant Under-Secretary for Domestic Worker Affairs at MoHRE, articulated the importance of these collaborative sessions. The goal is to navigate the sector’s evolving landscape while enhancing the caliber of services for domestic workers’ employers.
Al Nuaimi underscored the obligation of agencies to align with the set legal and regulatory framework, including domestic workers’ accommodation standards. Agencies are also mandated to provide thorough training for domestic workers and to exercise transparent recruitment fee structures as per UAE law.
The Ministry remains vigilant, prepared to enforce legal penalties against agencies flouting the established norms to protect the rights of all involved parties. Al Nuaimi also cautioned the public against engaging with unofficial recruitment agencies and dubious online entities, advocating for interactions solely with MoHRE-licensed agencies, details of which are available on the Ministry’s website and social platforms.
