Dubai continues to be a beacon of opportunity for job seekers, especially for the Emirati youth. The Abu Dhabi Energy Centre was recently the hub of career potential, hosting the first three-day Industrialist Career Exhibition tailored for advanced technology industries. The event was a resounding success with over 3,000 young Emiratis engaging in interviews for an impressive array of 500 job openings.
In a unison of strategy and opportunity, several UAE institutions played key roles. The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) and its partners, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis), the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), and ADNOC Group, came together to create this platform for employment and training.
Participating companies from diverse sectors such as defense, food & beverage, automotive, and many more were present to scout talented individuals. The drive behind this initiative is to bolster the local economy and engage the Emirati population in promising industries, as part of the national in-country value (ICV) program and the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ campaign.
Omar Al Suwaidi, the Undersecretary of MoIAT, emphasized the importance of nurturing local talent. This event stands as a testament to their commitment to enabling the younger generation with the right skills and placing them in roles that align with market needs. It also reflected the ministry’s dedication to expanding Emirati participation in industries fueling the private sector’s growth.
Ghannam Al Mazrouei from Nafis echoed the sentiment, highlighting the event as a symbol of Emirati youth’s eagerness to contribute to the industrial sector’s evolution. The career fair not only facilitated immediate employment but also cast a spotlight on Nafis’ programs aimed at upskilling and integrating Emiratis into the private sector.
Opportunities were diverse, from engineering to IT and business management, delineating the scope and appetite for growth in the UAE’s job market. The event symbolizes a broader push towards economic development with a focus on harnessing local talent.
