The UAE summer has officially kicked off, and temperatures have reached a scorching 49.9 degrees, marking the highest temperature of the year so far.

On Friday, June 21, the National Centre of Meteorology recorded the highest temperature at Mezaira in Abu Dhabi at 3:15 pm. The top five hottest areas in the country were:

  • Mezaira: 49.9 degrees at 3:15 pm
  • Um Azimul: 49.8 degrees at 12:45 pm
  • Hamim: 49.9 degrees at 3:15 pm
  • Al Jazeera BG: 48.6 degrees at 3:45 pm
  • Gasyoura: 48.5 degrees at 2:45 pm

The UAE summer season has officially begun, marked by the summer solstice on June 20, which is the longest day of the year. According to the Emirates Astronomical Society, the solstice occurred at 20:51 GMT on June 20, the earliest since 1796 for most world regions.
